Tan Hill Inn Party

To set appropriate context, you need to understand that The Tan Inn is an old pub, it has open fires, exposed beams, stone floors and a rustic charm that draws people to it. For those that need clarification, it is not the Hilton, nor will it ever be, that said the type of people who normally frequent an establishment such as this normally have the presence of mind to comprehend that it is a cosy pub and small business.

On arrival we were served promptly by a busy yet efficient member of staff, our room was ready and after a drink we were shown to it by Viv the land lady who made the effort to open up the back door of the pub to get our bags in without the fuss of taking them through the busy pub which we appreciated. Once in our room we found it to be clean and comfortable with ample storage for two people on a three day break. The famous Everest glazing kept the room almost silent from the howling wind and rain outside!

Our meal on New Year’s Eve was tasty and filling, it did take a little longer than most had anticipated between courses however this was due to the roof in the barn (the original meal location) having a hole in it meaning we were seated throughout the pub, nonetheless we were fed and watered well. The live music was fantastic and really got everyone up and dancing around and thoroughly enjoying the night’s celebration.
